This circuit is going to be made up as one of a pair of earrings. Between the red and black wires goes a small button cell. The whole lot will be light and small enough to hang from an ear. The Mark II version will be made using surface mount parts and be even smaller.

Is that a 555, or are you doing something fancy with a PIC? :)

Neither :-) I'm doing something fancy with ATMEL ATTiny25. It has 2KB of FLASH and 2KB of RAM and 64bytes of EEPROM. It only has one PWM channel so I'm generating the PWM in software. I'm using the hardware timer to trigger interrupts to generate the PWM signals and to update the pattern data. The whole lot is attenuated by a sine wave at 140 odd BPM. This means the RGB LED is pulsing colours smoothly which themselves smoothly change and repeat infrequently. Its about a KBs worth of code.
